Throw Up- 11am
Luke Byrne (2 Errigal) was the captain for our first match this season. Mr. Dillon’s side brought plenty of numbers, with 4 subs ready to come on when needed.
The first five minutes of the game was dull but the first score came quickly with a goal for St Conlons.
It took 15 minutes for Piper’s to score and it was a free from 15 yards out that went over the bar from Luke Byrne.
Just 2 minutes after, half forward Sean Cook scored a wonder goal for Pipers, with 30 minutes gone, Alex Duddy fisted the ball over the keeper to put the game level.
Going in at half time, Piper’s were down by one with a fluke goal for St Conlans that bounced off the Piper’s defender.
Still, there was nothing but compliments and positive messages from the gaffer, Mr Dillon, at the half time team talk!
For the second half, there were three changes for Mr Dillon’s side as he gave other players the opportunity to take to the pitch, determined to win the game.
Full forward Mikey Coffee scored the point of the match on his left foot to put the sides back level.
Just 5 minutes later, Cook put in his second goal of the game.
A great one-two from Luke to Alex secured the score and put Piper’s into a comfortable lead.
The substitute Sultan Ajibola fired another goal in the back of then net.
Mikey put two goals in in less than a minute and Piper’s continued to keep St Conlans in their own half with scores coming from all angles.
Man of the match goes to Piper’s half back and newcomer Timofe Oke who played a blinder, not giving Conlans half forwards a look in at all.
Mikey Coffee with 5 goals to help seal the win for Piper’s and the goal keeper Kamsy Alex-Ichu pulled off some brilliant saves.
It was a superb performance from the whole team to wrap up the first win of the season despite the side not yet kicking off their training season. More success surely to come!
